562 AS is a solid, low-carbon steel wire, ideal for the twin wire arc spray process. It contains higher silicon and manganese levels than typical carbon steel wires, acting as deoxidizers to produce coatings with reduced oxide content and enhanced machinability. These coatings are dense, well-bonded, and offer excellent mild abrasion resistance. They can be machined to a good finish using conventional carbide tooling. Suitable applications include dimensional restoration, such as repairing or rebuilding seating surfaces for low to high-speed shafts, valve stems, and pistons.
